Marie Atake

Marie is an International Business Consultant, certified in mediation and negotiation, with comprehensive experience in communications, marketing, and business development of multifarious industries. She is also the founder and president of Forte Animal Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. She was appointed to the Board of Animal Services Commission by Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa and served as a Commissioner from 2005 to 2007. Following her service to the city, Marie and her charity were each awarded a Certificate of Recognition by Los Angeles City Council in September 2007. Her charity received another Commendation from the City Council in June 2008. Most recently, the City Council has appointed her to the city’s new spay/neuter ordinance’s Advisory Committee.

“You’re the girl I always see walking her dog” — that’s what Angie heard all the time growing up on Martha’s Vineyard. She went everywhere with her dog. Now living in Los Angeles, she still is the girl always walking a dog. She began volunteering for Forte Animal Rescue as a dog walker about 3 years ago and is now on the Board of Directors and is the Volunteer and Adoption Events Coordinator. Working as a Travel Consultant and also a Fitness instructor, she would go to the boarding facilities to walk the rescued dogs before work, and on her days off. “The dogs were always so appreciative of any little bit of attention they received. Fearful, untrusting dogs would turn into happy social dogs just because they were getting walks and attention.” She decided to team up with Marie and animal experts from Forte Animal Rescue, and start Paw Angel Nannies. “It’s hard in Los Angeles to find time to go to the grocery store, nevermind give your dog the exercise and training that they need everyday. With Paw Angel Nannies pet guardians can rest assured that their pets are well taken care of. We do the work and the guardians get to enjoy all the benefits of having a companion animal.”
